Faux Tile Technique

Faux Tile Technique

This is the Faux Tile technique. The Simply Scored Scoring Tool makes doing this technique a little easier. The Faux Tile technique is another great way to create a background for your creative projects. I’ll walk you through the Faux Tile technique step by step.

STEP 1 – Scoring

Faux Tile - Step 1

You will notice that in this sample I scored vertically and horizontally rather than diagonally to show a different way of creating the Faux Tile.

STEP 2 – Applying Ink

Faux Tile - Step 2

After you have scored the card stock, now the fun begins. Apply the desired ink(s) using a sponge dauber, stamping sponges or how I did here. I used a cotton ball to apply the three different colors. I both daubed and lightly brushed the cotton ball to get the desired look I wanted.

STEP 3 – Stamp Image

Faux Tile - Step 3

When I started to create this Faux Tile technique I really had no thought or idea of a finished project in mind. For this sample I stamped several different images to create a background. As I was creating this sample it developed in to what is going to be a great masculine card. Below is the finished card that I created.

Faux Tile - All Geared Up Card

I took the completed Faux Tile added it to a couple of layers and added a tag. Notice that on the bottom left corner of the envelope I stamped a few nuts so the envelope would not be naked. The next photo shows what I did on the inside of the card. I left it blank so I can add an appropriate sentiment when I sent it out to the recipient.
